My grandmother and now my mother love birds. For years they curated a collection that includes decorative pieces, paintings, serving dishes, Christmas ornaments and even jewelry. Most recently my mom is facinated with the bird feeder that hangs on the window — it’s fabulous entertainment!
I realize that the symbolism of birds in art and literature represents a wide range of ideas. These ideas can include freedom, nobility, fertility, bravery, and much more. Throughout history, artists have drawn inspiration from birds. Oftentimes, birds will symbolize an aspirational quality.
CARDINALS
My newest collection is of cardinals. It's said that cardinals appear when angels are near and that the cardinal represents loved ones who have passed away. They are seen as messengers from Heaven who deliver words of love and comfort during difficult times. If you see a bright red cardinal, it means that you are being blessed with good luck and fortune.
Two of the remaining three originals are hanging in my studio. I also have prints on canvas that make thoughtful gifts for friends who have lost someone close to them, as well as the gilded gold leaf ornament.
