Why My Paintings Come with a Pep Talk

Since I was a child, words have held a special kind of magic for me. A single quote, a phrase of encouragement, or a verse from scripture had the power to shift my perspective and remind me that better days were ahead. They became little lifelines, giving me hope when I needed it most.

Looking back, I now understand that I likely struggled with depression from a young age, though I didn’t receive a diagnosis until I was 32. As a child, I often felt like I wasn’t enough—like everyone else was somehow “more” than me. I found myself longing for the future, believing that one day I’d feel better, stronger, more worthy. And on the hardest days, I turned to words. They reminded me that I wasn’t alone, that I had a purpose, and that life had so much beauty left to offer.

Then, I found art.

What started as an outlet for creativity became something much deeper. Painting opened up feelings I hadn’t even realized I was carrying, allowing me to process them in a way that felt natural and freeing. It was healing. It gave me a sense of peace, a space to express myself, and a way to see the beauty in imperfection—both in my work and in life itself.

That’s why I now blend these two things—art and words. My paintings tell a story of hope, faith, and growth, while the quotes add another layer of meaning. Together, they create something more than just an image; they offer encouragement, a reminder that you are strong, capable, and never alone in your journey.

My hope is that when you see my work, it lifts your spirit. That a simple phrase or a brushstroke of color brings you joy, peace, or inspiration. Because we all need reminders that life is beautiful, that we are worthy, and that we are here for a reason.

Thank you for allowing me to share this with you. I hope my art and words bring as much light to your life as they have to mine.
